SCOTTISH TRAMWAY & TRANSPORT SOCIETY

MEETINGS AND VENUE

Except under special circumstances, the Society has meetings on the second Friday of every month from September to May, inclusive.

These are held in the Renfield St Stephens Church Centre at 260 Bath Street GlasgowG2 (diagonally opposite the King’s Theatre at the corner of Elmbank Street). Meetings usually take place in the Kirk Lounge but are always confirmed on the notice board at the entrance to the building. Facilities for less able attendees are available.

Meetings commence at 7.30pm and are usually timed to finish around 9.30pm. They generally take the form of a presentation by a speaker, expert on their subject. They take place immediately after the formal introductions or business and are usually accompanied by illustrations in the form of slides, film, video, or powerpoint. There is usually time for questions at the end but informality is encouraged.

Meetings, apart from the A.G.M. in May, are open to non-members and visitors are made most welcome. Every effort is made to secure the best speakers and the STTS does not confine itself to local speakers or indeed local subjects. Each year the Syllabus is arranged in advance to provide as far as possible a varied range of subjects – something to suit everyone. Attendances at Society meetings have been increasing in recent years; a most satisfying statistic.
